Course Overview

The HABC Level 2 Award in Door Supervision qualification is required by law for the grant of a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence, which allows individuals to work as a door supervisor.

This four-day course is aimed at those wanting to work as a door supervisor in licensed premises. A Door Supervisor Licence also entitles the holder to work as a security guard.

To work as a door supervisor, individuals must hold a frontline door supervisor's licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). To be granted this licence an applicant must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass the SIA’s criminality criteria
  • Hold a recognised door supervisors qualification – the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Working in any licensable role without the appropriate SIA licence is a criminal offence. Before applying for an SIA licence, individuals are required to gain this qualification.

Course Content

Topics covered in this course include the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry, the importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements, the role and objectives of a door supervisor, powers of arrest relevant to a door supervisor, how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations, good practice to follow after conflict situations, physical interventions and the implications of their use and the use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and a multiple-choice examinations.
